Our Zone

The Zone

The Cumberland Zone of the NSW Rural Fire Service is Located at the base of the Blue Mountains in Western Sydney. It consists of three (3) Local Government Areas being Blacktown, Fairfield & Penrith. The Zone was formed in 2000 and officially gazetted in 2002.

The Cumberland zone has 16 Brigades and over 1000 firefighters and support personnel. We attend between 800 & 900 incidents per year consisting of:

  • Structure Fires
  • Motor Vehicle Accidents,
  • Bush & Grass Fires
  • Automatic Fire Alarms
  • Search and Rescue

The firefighters that attend these incidents are trained to nationally recognised standards and are supported by up-to-date modern equipment. The equipment includes National Standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Firefighting Appliances.

We at the Cumberland Zone Rural Fire Service are proud to provide a 24hr a day, seven days a week emergency service to the residents in all three Local Government Areas

There are eight Group Officers - four Group Officers and four Deputy Group Officers.

We also have a Training Group which assist in the facilitation of training within the zone.
